Abstract

Developed and tested a model of voter behavior in a primary election by surveying 839 voters. Actual voting behavior of Ss was predicted on the basis of a primary voter behavior model that involved 7 components: issues and policies, social imagery, emotional feelings, candidate image, current events, personal events, and epistemic issues. Results show a prediction rate of 90% correctly classified. The explanatory and predictive power of the model are compared to the models that use demographic and political involvement data.
