Key findings

The Chicago Consortium on Longevity is a vital hub and mechanism for connecting and uniting agencies and constituencies who specialize in providing the best services and resources to aging individuals. Through the collective efforts of the Consortium, and its programs and resources, it aims to expand the capacity of organizations that serve older adults, thereby improving their overall quality and broadening their reach.

This funding will be used to continue achieving the mission of the Chicago Consortium on Longevity in a variety of ways. Regular meetings will be held with various constituents, bringing together scholars, researchers, practitioners, legal counsel, and other agencies and constituencies who are dedicated to improving aging individuals' lives. These meetings will facilitate dialogue about the Consortium among experts who will have the opportunity to present, share, and learn about the needs of older adults in the Chicagoland area.

In addition, a needs assessment will be conducted by collecting data from older adults across the Chicagoland area regarding the strengths and weaknesses within our communities in meeting their specific needs. The needs assessment will be designed and conducted in partnership with Consortium members. Once the data are collected, the core members at DePaul University will work on analyses and summaries that will be shared with the entire Consortium. The data from the needs assessment will then guide community outreach, interventions, the research agenda, and further partner connections.
