About

Professor Hwang teaches courses on methods and applications of GIS. She is interested in computational urban geography in the area of housing, transportation, and community development. Her research has been on fuzzy set approach to social area analysis (market segmentation), GIS-assisted curriculum for sustainability education, and uncertain GPS trajectory computing towards quantifying activity space and daily mobility. She has published in the disciplines of geography, urban planning, and computer science. Her recent collaboration with health scientists looks at ways to utilize geospatial technologies towards improving health outcomes of diabetic patients and persons with disabilities.
